What's not covered under cat insurance
No pet insurance company covers pre-existing conditions. If you're unsure of what qualifies as a pre-existing condition, you can request a medical history review.
Other exclusions may arise if procedures are deemed medically unnecessary or cruel. Your cat’s health is our priority. Embrace is one of the few pet insurance companies that distinguish between curable and incurable conditions to maximize illness coverage and benefits.
We also cover hereditary conditions.
Finally, routine care is not covered under accident and illness insurance but can be reimbursed under our optional Wellness Rewards program.
We reward wellness
For every case of emergency and unexpected vet bill covered by insurance, Embrace expects and accounts for wellness just as carefully.
Under our optional flexible routine care plan, you can use Wellness Rewards for grooming, microchipping, spay/neuter surgery, flea, tick & heartworm preventatives, dietary products, and more.
For a full pet wellness plan breakdown, visit our Wellness Rewards page.
Wellness Rewards reimburses for:
Wellness exams
Spay/neuter surgery
Grooming & nail trims
Teeth cleaning
Nutritional supplements
Flea, tick & heartworm preventatives
Pet insurance for cats of all ages
From kittenhood to their senior years, your cat deserves quality care. Preventative care in kittenhood can put their paws on the right track. As they age, Embrace will continue to provide support throughout their lives.

Insurance for kittens
Our cat insurance covers kittens as young as six weeks old to give you peace of mind that their crazy antics won’t break the bank.

Insurance for adult cats
Just because adult cats prefer a slower pace doesn’t mean they’re immune to getting sick or hurt. Ensure they’re covered as they age.

Insurance for senior cats
Cats are covered under our accident and illness plan until their 15th birthday. We continue to offer an accident plan for cats 15 years old or older to ensure they stay protected through their golden years.
Factors we consider in your cat’s unique plan
To ensure your cat’s insurance plan fits your budget, we are transparent with the factors we consider that affect the overall cost up-front. While certain aspects of every plan go unchanged, other factors can affect what you will pay.
Breed
Breed is one factor that affects your premium, as certain breeds are more prone to genetic conditions than others. This helps us better prepare for your cat’s needs. Certain breeds are subject to additional costs. Learn more about cat breeds.
Age
While kittens are more resilient, cats tend to need closer attention as they age. Illness and injury are more common in older cats, so we consider age in the final cost of your cat’s insurance plan.
Location
Veterinary rates change based on where you live. We take location into account to give you the best deal possible, as this will affect what you pay for your plan.
You choose
Annual Deductible
We offer a few different deductible options. Choosing a higher deductible plan allows you to pay less for your pet insurance.
You choose
Reimbursement
When your pet goes to the vet, we reimburse a percentage of what you paid for care. If you choose an insurance plan with a lower reimbursement percentage, your insurance payment will be smaller.
You Choose
The Annual Maximum
The annual maximum is the highest amount Embrace will reimburse you per year. An insurance plan with a lower annual maximum will cost less. When choosing this maximum, consider factors such as energy level and whether your cat is an indoor or outdoor pet.

Is cat insurance worth it?
Cat insurance can be priceless for the peace of mind it provides, plus the financial savings when there’s a medical emergency. A policy with reimbursement for wellness visits and routine checkups more than pays for itself after a few years.
Cats are known for their resilience, but they’re not impervious to illness and injury. Embrace covers common feline ailments such as urinary tract infections.
We also offer optional wellness rewards for expenses like flea treatments.
